COVID-19 POLICY

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, I have worked to provide piano services to my customers as safely as possible, following government guidance on working in people’s homes. While all restrictions have now been lifted, Covid is still with us and is a serious illness, and I am conscious of the need to take precautions where possible to keep myself and others safe.

Please read and agree to this page before booking a piano tuning.

If you would like to discuss anything about your appointment prior to my visit, request any further precautions or accommodations, or ask any questions, please feel free to contact me for more information.

My Covid-19 Policy – Updated 2024

What you need to do

Inform me if there is Covid in your house – for domestic tunings, if anyone in your household is testing positive for Covid-19 (even if you feel well), I will be unable to carry out your tuning appointment. Please contact me to cancel or postpone at no cost. This applies even if the person with Covid is fully vaccinated, only has a mild case, has a faint positive test line, or intends to stay in a separate room.

Inform me if you need me to take extra precautions – If you need visitors to your home to take extra precautions against Covid-19, please contact me to discuss any requirements you have. I am happy to test, wear a mask and work with the windows open.

What I will do

  • Testing – I normally do a lateral flow test about once a week. I am happy to test on the day of your appointment – just let me know.
  • Masking – By default I no longer wear a mask to appointments but I am very happy to do so if you would feel more comfortable – just let me know.
  • Contacts & symptoms – If I am testing negative, but know that I have been exposed to COVID, or am experiencing symptoms, I will inform you and wear a mask to your appointment. If I test positive for COVID within 48 hours of visiting your house, I will inform you.
  • Airflow – If you need the windows open, this is absolutely fine – however please note that in the winter a sudden temperature and humidity swing can destabilise the piano tuning, so arranging for me to tune while you are in another room may work better.
  • Distancing – I am happy to discuss any details of the piano over the phone / video call where possible if you wish to speak with me from a different room in your house or similar. You can also leave notes on the piano if you wish to highlight problems with e.g. particular keys. Please get in touch if you have any needs or concerns around this.

Other considerations

  • Cancellation fee – Please note that cancellations only do not incur a charge if caused by Covid-19 or an emergency. In other circumstances, an appointment cancelled or delayed by more than 30 minutes with less than 24 hours’ notice is chargeable at the full standard fee.

Thank you for understanding. I hope all my customers remain safe and enjoy playing your pianos!
